He began his music studies on the piano when he was seven years old.  After picking up the violin early in elementary school, he switched to bass when he was in sixth grade and started studying with James Faulkner of the Dayton Philharmonic.  When he made it to high school, he began taking lessons with Dr. Paul Robinson.  During the high school years, he also had the privilege of touring China with the Columbus Symphony Youth Orchestra, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the orchestra.

Throughout his time at the University of Cincinnati, where he attained the CCM Memorial Scholarship, Cincinnatus Scholarship, and the Doris Nelson Scholarship of the Arts, he has performed with the CCM Concert Orchestra, CCM Philharmonia Orchestra, CCM Wind Ensemble, and the CCM Chamber Players.  He has also performed small orchestral concerts with various conductors such as Antoine Lopez, Gonçalo Lourenço, Michael Fuchs, and Doug Belland.  Outside of the university, he has attended the Aspen Music Festival and School in Aspen, Colorado, where he continued his studies with Al Laszlo.  He has taken lessons with Larry Hurst, Diana Gannet, Scott Haugh, Max Dimmoff, and Edgar Meyer.

Mr. Mehraban performs a wide variety of genres, but specializes in classical, jazz, rock, and bluegrass.  Most of the notable performances come with the Aspen Music Festival orchestras and the "RA" Tomatoes Bluegrass Trio.  He is actively looking for more opportunities to perform and record within these genres.

Outside of the double bass, Mehraban enjoys golf, basketball, soccer, and composing music.
